Under the slogan \u201cDressing the urban landscape. Transformed the city\u201d, the EFA La Malvesia has held a technical workshop on urban landscaping at the headquarters of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta. An interesting proposal that is part of the project of the European project EPLUG (European Platform for Urban Greening) and that seeks to make those responsible for designing green environments in towns and cities of Spain aware of the importance of reinterpreting spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n Ignacio Hern\u00e1ndez, director of the EFA la Malves\u00eda, began the day by presenting the EPLUG project and the idea of \u200b\u200bCoVE or vocational center of excellence as a meeting and participation place between the different agents interested in urban green.<\/span><\/p>\n Next, and in a first block focused on urban landscaping and restoration, Gustavo Marina, with his talk \u201cMunicipal landscaping. Quo vadis?\u201d stressed the need to create quality projects, well executed and designed from participation and responding to the real needs of citizens; green spaces are presented as social, cultural and educational meeting places, without forgetting their important role in health and the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n The second presentation, by Gerard Passola, director of Doctor \u00c1rbol, remarked the need for trees in cities, as essential elements in terms of physical, mental and emotional health, as creators of landscape and added value to our streets. Urban forest, quality trees versus ornament, social justice and enhancement of the trees roughly define the incredible talk of a great arboriculture professional.<\/span><\/p>\n Juanma Mond\u00e9jar, Paimed Projar Group technician, closed this first block with a technical presentation on the different sustainable drainage systems (SUDS) and their environmental and hydrological benefits.<\/span><\/p>\n The second part of the day focused, on the one hand, on national and international regulations on green roofs. Elisabeth Contreras, a specialist on the subject, presented the interesting case of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bhighlighting the advantages of green roofs, as well as the importance of dissemination and promotion that should accompany this type of initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n Jorge Herv\u00e1s, director of the Next Generation European Funds of the Generalitat Valenciana, concluded the conference. In his presentation, he exposed the need to intensify public strategies in terms of renaturalizing the city. \u00abWe are in a moment without historical precedents due to the avalanche of aid\u00bb, he affirmed, which we must take advantage of to reverse the prevailing urban model.<\/span><\/p>\n Undoubtedly, after the conference, the need for a new way of interpreting and managing green is evident. More than an ornament, it becomes an essential element to face the new social and environmental challenges that are presented to us.
